Ingredients:

For the Filling

  • 1 lb white fish fillets (cod or haddock), cut into chunks
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 lb scallops
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup seafood stock (or chicken stock)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For the Topping

  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Optional Puff Pastry Crust

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, cooking until softened. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the seafood stock and cream, cooking until the sauce thickens.
  2. Add the Seafood: Gently fold in the fish, shrimp, scallops, peas (if using), and parsley. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Potato Topping: Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and mash with milk, butter, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Assemble the Pie: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Pour the seafood filling into a baking dish. Top with the mashed potatoes, spreading evenly and using a fork to create a decorative pattern.

Optional Puff Pastry Crust: If using puff pastry, cover the dish with the pastry, pressing the edges to seal. Brush with beaten egg.

  5. Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbling. If using puff pastry, bake until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  6. Serve: Let the pie rest for 5 minutes before serving. Pair with a crisp green salad or roasted vegetables.

Seafood Pie is a deliciously satisfying dish that’s perfect for cozy dinners or impressing guests with its rich, ocean-inspired flavors.
