Ingredients

For the Cookies:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

For the Butter Glaze:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cookies:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
    • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
    • Scoop dough using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, rolling it into balls if needed. Place them on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
    • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  2. Make the Butter Glaze:
    • In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the sugar and water, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
    • Cook for 1-2 minutes until the sugar is dissolved, then remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Glaze the Cookies:
    • While the cookies are still warm, use a pastry brush to generously coat each cookie with the butter glaze. Allow the glaze to soak in and repeat if desired for extra richness.
    • Let the cookies cool completely and serve.

Enjoy these decadent cookies with a glass of milk or a cup of tea—they’re perfect for any occasion!
